On the 6th June, hospitals and laboratories across the country celebrated Biomedical Science Day 2024. The event is focused on raising awareness of the work of Biomedical Scientists.
Our Training and Quality Control Coordinator, Suzanne Hughes, organised a week of activities, including a Biomedical-themed Bake Off, a Weqas Wheel of Wisdom Quiz, creating a ‘zen space’ for Wellbeing Wednesday, Biomedical Bingo, as well as multiple training sessions for Weqas colleagues to participate in. These activities were about celebrating the varying roles within Biomedical science and highlighting why it is such a great career choice.

Creative Opportunities
Our annual Biomedical themed bake off returned, allowing our colleagues to get creative. The winning entry was the pH scale cupcakes that looked wonderfully colourful, informative, and delicious! We got creative with scientific themed memes for the Weqas Meme competition.
Learning Opportunities
Our educational activities included our new favourite ‘Weqas Wheel of Wisdom’, spinning the wheel to answer questions for the chance to win prizes. Our BMS team delivered a fantastic presentation on their journey into the BMS profession. To end the week, our colleagues took part in a great game of Biomedical Bingo based on the periodic table. At Weqas, we like to make learning fun!
