Our Director, Annette Thomas, in her role as the National POCT Clinical Lead will be speaking at the MediWales Connects conference in Cardiff. She will be leading a session on ‘Point of Care Testing and Diagnostics’, discussing the challenges in developing the National POCT Strategy for Wales and showcasing the successes to date.
 
As an organisation, we are delighted to see our Director sharing her knowledge at MediWales. We appreciate the collaborative and business opportunities provided by MediWales as the independent life science network for Wales. Annette will be more than happy to discuss our organisation’s plans in developing EQA for POCT and how we support education and training.

Weqas Director

Annette Thomas is a Consultant Clinical Biochemist at Cardiff and Vale University Health Board with over 40 years’ experience in Laboratory Medicine, over 20 years of which has been as Director of Weqas. Annette is also the national clinical lead for POCT representing POCT in Welsh Government advisory Committees and chairs the POCT Strategic Board and POCT Co-ordinators Network in Wales. She is a member of the International Federation of Clinical Chemistry and Laboratory Medicine (IFCC) Task Force on Global Lab Quality (TF-GLQ) and past chair of the Committee on Analytical Quality (C-AQ).
